Version 1.0
Please read this Disclaimer carefully before using ZeroFIR.com or the ZeroFIR mobile application. By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms of this Disclaimer. If you do not agree with any part of this Disclaimer, please discontinue use of the Platform immediately.
ZeroFIR.com ("ZeroFIR", "we", "us", or "our") is a civic-technology platform developed and operated by The Imaginations, a venture studio based in Surat, Gujarat, India. ZeroFIR uses artificial intelligence to assist Indian citizens in drafting First Information Reports (FIRs) in plain, structured language.
ZeroFIR is designed as a drafting and informational assistance tool. It is intended to help users articulate and organise facts about an incident in a format broadly consistent with FIR documentation standards in India. The Platform does not replace, supersede, or constitute an alternative to the official FIR registration process as defined under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC) or the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), as applicable.
Critical Disclaimer
Nothing on this Platform — including AI-generated FIR drafts, suggested IPC/BNS sections, legal summaries, informational content, or any communication from ZeroFIR — constitutes legal advice. ZeroFIR is not a law firm, a legal services provider, or an advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961.
The information and documents generated by ZeroFIR are for general informational and drafting assistance purposes only. They do not create an advocate-client relationship between the user and ZeroFIR or any of its personnel.
For specific legal advice, representation, or guidance on your individual circumstances, you are strongly advised to consult a qualified and registered advocate. ZeroFIR facilitates connections to verified advocates through Vakalat.com as an optional referral service.
ZeroFIR uses large language model (LLM) technology — specifically the Anthropic Claude API — to interpret the information you provide and generate a structured FIR draft. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies, and should not be relied upon as definitive or complete.
- The AI system does not have knowledge of your specific circumstances beyond what you explicitly enter into the Platform.
- Suggested IPC/BNS sections and legal classifications generated by AI are indicative only and may not accurately reflect the applicable provisions of law for your specific case.
- The AI model may occasionally misinterpret complex factual scenarios, regional legal variations, or nuanced circumstances.
- You are solely responsible for reviewing the AI-generated draft before submission to any authority, and for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and truth of the content.
Warning: Filing a false FIR or furnishing false information to law enforcement is a criminal offence under Indian law. ZeroFIR does not verify the truthfulness of the information you provide. You bear full legal responsibility for the accuracy and veracity of any FIR you submit.
ZeroFIR provides a drafted document intended to assist you in the FIR registration process. However, we make no representation, warranty, or guarantee that:
- Any FIR draft generated by ZeroFIR will be accepted, registered, or acted upon by any police station, law enforcement authority, or judicial body.
- The draft will comply with the specific requirements of any particular state police department, district, or jurisdiction.
- Using ZeroFIR will guarantee any particular legal outcome or relief.
- The Platform's output will be suitable as a substitute for an FIR filed in person with a police officer.
The acceptance and registration of an FIR is entirely at the discretion of the concerned police authority as per applicable law. ZeroFIR provides convenience and clarity in drafting; it does not guarantee registration outcomes.
Your right under law: Under Section 154 of the CrPC (and corresponding BNSS provisions), every citizen has the right to report a cognisable offence at any police station. If a police station refuses to register your FIR, you may approach a superior police officer or a Judicial Magistrate under applicable provisions.
By using ZeroFIR, you represent, warrant, and agree that:
- You are at least 18 years of age or are a legal guardian acting on behalf of a minor who is a victim of a cognisable offence.
- All information you provide to ZeroFIR is true, accurate, complete, and not misleading.
- You will not use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose, including filing false complaints or harassing individuals.
- You will review and verify every aspect of the AI-generated draft before using it for any official purpose.
- You understand and accept that ZeroFIR is a drafting aid and not a legal representative or substitute for qualified legal counsel.
- You will not hold ZeroFIR, The Imaginations, their directors, employees, or affiliates liable for any consequence arising from your use of, or reliance on, content generated by the Platform.
While ZeroFIR strives to provide accurate, up-to-date legal information — including references to IPC sections, BNS provisions, state-wise e-FIR portal links, and procedural guidance — we do not warrant that:
- The legal information on the Platform is current, complete, or applicable to your specific jurisdiction or case.
- The IPC/BNS sections suggested by the AI are exhaustive or the most appropriate for your circumstances.
- The e-FIR portal links and state police information are current, as these are managed by third-party government authorities and may change without notice.
Laws, procedures, and judicial interpretations evolve over time. ZeroFIR's legal references are based on information available at the time of platform development and are updated periodically, but may not reflect the most recent amendments or notifications.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ZeroFIR, The Imaginations, their founders, directors, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform.
- Any loss or damage arising from reliance on AI-generated FIR drafts, suggested legal sections, or any other content generated by the Platform.
- Any legal consequences, police action, court proceedings, or outcomes resulting from FIRs drafted or filed using ZeroFIR.
- Any unauthorised access to or alteration of your data due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
- Any delays, interruptions, or errors in Platform availability, including downtime of e-FIR portals or government services.
- Any damage to your device or data arising from malware, viruses, or other harmful code transmitted through third-party links.
Maximum Liability: In any event, our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid to ZeroFIR (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim, or ₹1,000 (Indian Rupees One Thousand), whichever is lower.
The Platform may contain links to state police e-FIR portals, government websites, partner platforms (including Vakalat.com), and other third-party resources. These links are provided for convenience and informational purposes only.
ZeroFIR does not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, accuracy, availability, or practices of any third-party website or service. We are not responsible for any loss or harm arising from your use of, or reliance on, third-party content or services accessed through ZeroFIR.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ZeroFIR, The Imaginations, and their respective founders, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Platform in violation of this Disclaimer or applicable law.
- Your submission of false, misleading, or inaccurate information to the Platform.
- Your violation of any third party's rights, including defamation, privacy violations, or intellectual property infringement.
- Any FIR filed using content generated by ZeroFIR that is later found to be fabricated, exaggerated, or maliciously motivated.
This Disclaimer and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from the use of ZeroFIR that cannot be resolved through mutual agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Surat, Gujarat, India.
ZeroFIR reserves the right to modify or update this Disclaimer at any time, at its sole discretion, to reflect changes in applicable law, platform features, or operational practices. Material changes will be notified through:
- A prominent notice on the ZeroFIR website with an updated "Last Updated" date.
- In-app notifications for registered users of the ZeroFIR mobile application.
